Shakespeare has
been inspirational to composers of all nations from his
own day to this. Our programme features settings of a lighter
nature, including John Rutter's
Birthday Madrigals and the
great,
blind jazz pianist, George Shearing's Songs and Sonnets as
well as Vaughan Williams' incomparable settings of Full
Fathom Five, The Cloud-Capp'd Towers and Over Hill,
Over Dale, and two contemporary settings by Finnish
composer, Jaakko Mantyjarvi, Come Away Death and Double,
double Toil and Trouble. We
are delighted to be joined by Rugby-based jazz pianist Nick
Scott-Burt,
in
his
first
appearance
with
Chorale.
